Real Time Image Rotation Using Dynamic Reconfiguration

2002

Abstract Field programmable gate array (FPGA) components are widely used nowdays to implement various algorithms, such as digital filtering, in real time. The emergence of dynamically reconfigurable FPGAs made it possible to reduce the number of necessary resources to carry out an image-processing task (tasks chain). In this article, an image-processing application, image rotation, that exploits the FPGAs dynamic reconfiguration method is presented. This paper shows that the choice of an implementation, static or dynamic reconfiguration, depends on the nature of the application. A comparison is carried out between the dynamic and the static reconfiguration using two criteria: cost and perfo…

A correction method for dynamic analysis of linear continuous systems

2005

A method to improve the dynamic response analysis of continuous classically damped linear system is proposed. As in fact usually, following a classical approach, a reduced number of eigenfunctions are accounted for and the response is evaluated by integrating the uncoupled differential equations of motion in modal space, neglecting the contribution of high frequency modes (truncation procedure). Here, starting from the given system, it is proposed to set up two differential equations governing the motion of two new continuous systems: the first one contains only the first m non-zero eigenvalues of the given system and the second one contains the remainder non-zero infinity - m eigenvalues. …

Implementing the sustainable energy (and climate) action plans: quasi-steady state or dynamic building modeling approach?

2020

Actions contemplated in Sustainable Energy (and Climate) Action Plans (SEAPs), which municipalities adhering to the EU initiative called “The Covenant of Mayors” are required to prepare, regard many sectors, among which are buildings. To implement such plans, it is necessary to make use of methods for predicting energy use in buildings. Technicians involved in this tend to adopt easy-touse simulation models because of the common mid-level expertise of the offices involved. However, such simplified methods could result in a less accurate evaluation of the energy demand of buildings. In this paper the suitability of the quasi-steady state and the dynamic approach, in the frame of these new ur…
